About Us
Where We Are: Cremona School is located in the small village of Cremona in the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, between Cochrane and Sundre. The school serves the surrounding area, providing education for students from ECS to Grade 12.
Who We Are: We are a Professional Learning Community.
The mission of Cremona School is to establish high standards of learning within the framework of Alberta Education mandates and curriculum. We expect all students will meet or exceed these standards.
As a learning community we accept responsibility for all students and will provide the necessary support and help required for every student to succeed. We will also promote a positive school climate by modeling life long learning qualities and characteristics that we hope to instill in our children.
COMPRESSED VERSION OF VISION STATEMENT
The following vision statements (in summary) are intended to provide the standards that Cremona School will be striving to achieve and maintain.
1. Curriculum
Alberta Education articulates the outcomes for students in our school. The school teaches, monitors, assesses and is committed to improve each student's attainment of these outcomes.
2. Climate
The school will provide a positive and safe atmosphere.
3. Students
A school is assessed on the basis of the conduct, character and achievement of its students.
4. School Staff
The quality of teaching is a clear indicator of success in student learning.
5. Student Support
We recognize the importance of each individual student.
6. Community
At our school, the community must be a partner in the education of every child. In such a school:
A. The community demonstrates its support for the vision and commitments of the school and its staff.
B. The community plays an integral role in the life of the school through volunteerism, attendance at functions, etc.
C. Parents play an active role in the education of their children such as monitoring their child's academic performance and working with the school staff to improve achievement.
D. The community needs to help the school be a welcoming place and one where there is open communication for the purpose of providing information or getting feedback.
E. The school looks to community members to model responsible and respectful behaviour.
